Discover the Indian Hot Springs Lodge

Although Colorado is home to many hot springs, Idaho Springs is a hub for natural relaxation (hence its namesake).

The healing waters of the Indian Hot Springs were originally discovered by George A. Jackson in 1859 and public operation began shortly thereafter in 1863.

Today the Indian Hot Springs features an indoor hot springs pool under a translucent dome, one of a kind cave baths, a mud room, private baths, outdoor jacuzzis, and a variety of overnight accommodations.

Learn A Little Hot Springs History

Hot springs are part of our rich Heritage. In fact, Arapaho and Ute Indian tribes were the first to use the healing, hot mineral waters to treat the sick or wounded and found the waters to be sacred.

In 1859, George A. Jackson discovered the first “hot spring” in Clear Creek during his search for gold, when he stumbled upon “mysterious smoke” coming from Soda Creek. Shortly after his discovery of the hot springs, Jackson struck gold at the confluence of Chicago Creek and Clear Creek, which triggered our portion of the Colorado Gold Rush.
