Halloween in the Rocky Mountains

Now through October 31st you are invited to step into spooky season just 20 miles west of Denver! Our Colorado Mountain Towns of Idaho Springs, Empire, Georgetown, and Silver Plume welcome you with unique activities and experiences to explore!

Spend the day visiting Clear Creek County or stay the night at unique and enchanted accommodations.

Be sure to visit in costume on October 30th and 31st as many businesses are offering special discounts and free items for festive patrons!

Silver Queen Historic Walking Tours in Georgetown Colorado

10/15 - 10/29: Georgetown Ghost Tours

Join the Silver Queen Walking Tours for a hair-raising ghost tour in Historic Georgetown, one of the most haunted cities in the State of Colorado. Travel back in time to the nineteenth century while learning about the chilling past, discovering stories of former residents, murderers, vigilantes, hauntings, and more. Please, children 10 and older. Tours 5:00pm – 7:00pm. $18 ages 10-16, $28 adults. Groups of 10 or more please call (720) 649-0035 to book.

10/16 - 10/31: Hotel de Paris Museum Tours

Hotel de Paris Museum™ is the most unique and complete parcel of early Colorado history in the state. Knowledgeable docents share culinary history and reveal why Louis Dupuy (the best cook in the Colorado Territory) was called the Mysterious Frenchman, the Hotel Prince, French Louie, the Oddest Host in America, and the Father of Domestic Science in America.

Tours originate in our museum shop and begin at the top of the hour, 10am-3pm. Allow 45 minutes. ADA accessible. Photography allowed.

10/16, 10/23, 10/30: Tommyknocker Ghost Tour

Tall Tales and Tommyknockers ghost tour at the Lebanon Gold and Silver Mine in Georgetown, Colorado. This 90 minute, guided, ghost tour is led by candlelight and includes ghostly sightings, miner superstitions, and a real time ghost hunting session by host Professor Thaddeus J. Krimbel, ESQ. Doctor of T.W.G.B.I.T.N.

Tours take place on Saturdays at 6:00pm, rain or shine. No train ride required, you will get to the mine by van. It is highly recommended that you bring a jacket as the mine is between 40 – 44 degrees year round. Closed toe shoes or hiking boots required. Lanterns and hardhats provided. 10/24 - 10/30: Halloween Costume Contest

The Adventure Basecamp Bar and Grille House at Lawson Adventure Park and Resort is hosting a week-long costume contest! Stop in with your Halloween attire and enjoy spooky spirits and be entered to win! Winner will receive an overnight stay in a camping yurt for the winter ski season! *Holidays excluded.

While visiting be sure to check out the via ferrata, zipline course, fishing, disc golf, and guided atv tours as well!

10/29: Georgetown Trunk or Treat

Visit Fosters Place Playground at City Park in Georgetown, Colorado at the corner of Rose Street and 10th Street from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. This is a free, fun-filled trunk or treat evening with food trucks, music by DJ Razja, and fun for the whole family!

10/29: Idaho Springs Trunk or Treat

Children from Carlson Elementary will parade in costume down Miner Street at 2:00pm. Children are then welcome to trick or treat along Miner Street Businesses, candy stations, and sponsored trucks until 4:00pm. This event is open to all children. Come on out and bring the family for an afternoon of fun on Miner Street in Historic Downtown Idaho Springs!

10/30: Empire Trunk or Treat

The Town of Empire is hosting a trunk or treat event at Theobald Park in Empire, Colorado from 4:00pm until 5:00pm followed by a Chili cookoff and potluck at Town Hall from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. Come join in on the fun and show off your Halloween costume!

10/30: Halloween Fun Run

Join the Clear Creek Rec Center for the 2nd Annual Halloween Fun Run through the Idaho Springs Cemetery. There will be a 5k course as well as a 1 mile loop. Free entry, with donations collected for CCMRD Youth Programs. Friendly and leashed dogs welcome (bonus points if Fido is dressed up!)

Enjoy the colors of fall while you wind your way through the Rocky Mountains from Georgetown, Colorado to Empire, Colorado on the Georgetown Loop Railroad. Bring along a cozy blanket for your lap and snuggle up inside heated, enclosed train cars as you take in the ambience of the fall colors that surround you.

Enjoy live music in Downtown Historic Georgetown Colorado while you sip on a hot coffee or stroll the boutiques and art galleries. Brought to you by the Georgetown Cultural Arts Program. Music will take place on Library Stage at the corner of 6th Street and Rose Street.

10/20: Full Moon Ceremony

Removing the Veil is hosting a special full moon ceremony complete with collective healing and releasing work, personalized spell work, tarot reading, and meditation. $30 per guest. Space is limited.

10/20: Full Moon Hike

Enjoy a Full Moon hike up to St. Mary’s Glacier (3/4 mile to the top – 1.5 miles round trip) to watch the FULL MOON rise over Yankee Hill. Meet at the trail head at 6:00pm for the FREE hike. Dogs are welcome on a leash.  The group will hike up at dusk and back down by moonlight (or flashlight).

Be prepared for rocky and possibly snowy conditions on the trail. Parking is available in private lots near the trail head for $5. BRING EXACT CHANGE. It’s a self-pay station with an envelope that you’ll need to fill out – so please allow extra time to deal with that. Dress warm ~ It’s always colder at the glacier, so plan accordingly. (This event is weather-dependent. If the sky is cloudy, the hike will likely be cancelled.)

The Clear Creek Rec Center is hosting a free Halloween STEAM inspired day at the Idaho Springs Sports Complex from 11:00am until 3:00pm. Activities include making bubbling witches brew, pumpkin slime, spell bombs, and wizard wands! PLUS, pumpkins, pumpkin carving, bounce house fun, photo booth (costumes highly encouraged), and a free lunch!

10/23: Howl at the Moon Fundraiser

Friends of Charlie’s Place and the Clear Creek Animal Shelter invite you to Howl at the Moon and attend an enchanted Hallows Eve Fundraiser at the Elks Lodge 607 in Idaho Springs, Colorado. Support the animals at Charlie’s Place while enjoying a silent auction, cash bar, music by JJR Entertainment, and lots of dancing! $20 per person, tickets can be purchased at the door.
