February 14 - Annual Valentine’s Day Mountaintop Matrimony at Loveland Ski Area
The Annual Valentine’s Day Mountaintop Matrimony ceremony and reception is a Loveland tradition where new couples are joined in matrimony and married couples renew their vows in a mass wedding at 12:00pm sharp in Forest Meadow. The Mountaintop Matrimony is one of Loveland’s most popular events of the year and we look forward to your participation. The ceremony is done for all couples at the same time and lasts approximately 30 minutes. Couples are required to sign-in the morning of the event at registration in the Lower Ridge Room and are asked to be at Forest Meadow by 11:30am.
Honeymooner’s Apres Party for all participants and their guests follows the ceremony at 1:30pm at the Loveland Basin featuring music, wedding cupcakes and sparkling apple cider!
PARTICIPANTS AND GUESTS MUST BE ABLE TO RIDE THE LIFT UP TO THE TOP AND THEN SKI OR SNOWBOARD DOWN THE HILL IN ORDER TO ATTEND THE CEREMONY. THERE WILL BE NO TRANSPORTATION UP OR DOWN THE MOUNTAIN FOR NON-SKIERS/SNOWBOARDERS.
Couples getting married are required to obtain a valid Colorado Marriage License and need to bring it with them to the ceremony to be signed. Click Here for Clear Creek County marriage license information.
Participating couples that pre-register will be eligible for the 2-for-1 lift tickets the day of the event. Pre-registered couples will also be eligible to purchase lunch vouchers. Wedding cupcakes, cider and beer coupons will be provided complimentary for pre-registered couples. Participating couples must pre-register online in order to receive the goodie bag, reception treats and the Marry Me Ski for Free 2-for-1 lift ticket special for the day of the event.

Guanella Pass Scenic Byway Opens for the Season May 23rd, weather permitting.
Guanella Pass Road typically reopens the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend, weather permitting and will remain open through the last week of November, again weather permitting. Slacker Half Marathon, Relay and 4 Mile Races

Welcome to the highest downhill half marathon in the country and possibly the highest downhill 4-miler!
The half marathon/relay begins on dirt and then paved bike path at Loveland Ski Area and descends five miles to Bakerville. At this point, racers travel a paved road 4.5 miles to Silver Plume. From here, racers travel 3.5 miles of paved bike path and paved/dirt road to downtown Georgetown. The 4 mile begins at Silver Plume and travels on paved bike path/road to the Town of Georgetown. These courses offer a fast race time for the serious runner and a scenic, fun route for the novice.

Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon

The Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon is a 13.1 mile Colorado Runner’s Must-Do. This iconic Half Marathon is one of the most pleasurable races in the western US. The point-to-point course is a scenic and gently rolling downhill mountain course that winds down the Clear Creek Valley -- starting at an elevation of 8,500ft. at Georgetown Lake and ending at an elevation of 7,500ft. in Idaho Springs, with one hill of a finish!
This event is hosted by the Clear Creek Booster Club, and it is planned by parent volunteers. Proceeds from the GTIS Half Marathon go directly to supporting middle school and high school students in Clear Creek County.

2025 Annual Georgetown Bighorn Sheep Festival is November 8th ~ This free festival always takes place the 2nd Saturday in November.
Join the Historic Town of Georgetown and Colorado Parks & Wildlife for the Annual Georgetown Bighorn Sheep Festival from @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.
There will be children’s activities, crafts, music, wildlife programs, hikes, tours and so much more!
Be sure to stop by the Bighorn Sheep Viewing Station at the Georgetown Gateway Visitor Center as trained volunteers with binoculars and spotting scopes help viewers locate the head-banging sheep and offer a brief lesson on the animals!
Bighorns may be noticed from the highway, but, for the safety of both people and wildlife, please view sheep from the Georgetown Gateway Visitor Center and viewing station.
