Scarecrows in Georgetown

Take a stroll down the safe pedestrian mall on 6th Street in Historic Downtown Georgetown, Colorado to shop in unique stores, visit historic museums, and dine at local restaurants ~ and ENJOY the spirit of fall and the harvest season with SCARECROWS of Georgetown! Many are locally made by agencies, business owners and locals with characters ranging from miners to brides and beyond! The exhibit will be on display through October 31st! Be sure to not miss these creative, whimsical scarecrows on 6th Street’s Pedestrian Mall ~ Hope to see you soon!

Georgetown Loop Railroad

Trick or Treat Train Ride

Join the Georgetown Loop Railroad for the last 2 days of the 2020 regular season. The Trick or Treat Train is the perfect way to enjoy a spooktacular Halloween tradition!

Bring the kids and enjoy the fun in open air cars – no heating, please bring jackets, coats, and a lap blanket too! Kids will receive a free bag of candy after the train ride!

Please remember to bring your face mask and observe social distancing. Seating is assigned for all trains.

It has never been more important than ever to RESERVE your seat EARLY!  While the train is operating at less than 50% occupancy to ensure social distancing, we do not want you to miss this opportunity as seating is Limited!  Book your tickets today!

Halloween 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run

With social distancing, mask requirements, and timed starts, the Clear Creek Metropolitan Recreation District invites you to dress up in your BEST Halloween Costume and participate in a spooky Halloween morning run through the Idaho Springs Cemetery.

Race times will begin at 9am and there are a limited amount of 50 participants allowed – so be sure to sign up today!  This race is FREE and open to all ages. Donations for the CCMRD Youth Programs and Activities will be accepted.

Haunted Adventure

Ready for a SPOOKY side by side adventure with your family?

Head over to Lawson Adventure Park and Resort to take a guided UTV Tour through the Rocky Mountains and EXPLORE an old GOLD Mine! – Keep your eyes wide open as there have been ghost sightings and gold candy along the way… Now through October 31st – 8 years and older please.

Virtual Pumpkin Smash

November 1st through November 8th – The ANNUAL PUMPKIN SMASH is going VIRTUAL!  

Scraps-to-Soil Annual Pumpkin SMASH takes places every year after Halloween to EXPLORE composting and ways to contribute less to the waste stream.

This year we encourage you to set aside the “do not try this at home” jargon and show us your homemade Gallagher mallets, Louisville Sluggers, pumpkin launchers, sling shots and other creative ways you SMASH your PUMPKINS! A chance to get “hands-on” with techniques for pulverizing pumpkins into pieces… TRULY a community-wide composting crusade!

So set up the CAMERA – stage those Jack-O-Lanterns + left over pumpkins, and PREPARE to SMASH them for a chance to WIN an Adventure at the Colorado Adventure Center!
