CCMRD Pumpkin Smash

Time

11:00 AM TO 3:00 PM

Details

Each year, a staggering 1.3 billion pounds (approx.) of pumpkins end up in landfills. Across the country, events like the Pumpkin SMASH are taking place to divert the pumpkins from the landfill to compost piles, a much more productive and environmentally friendly solution.
Here in Idaho Springs, our annual Pumpkin SMASH has become a community favorite, and it is coming up on Saturday, November 4.  At the Pumpkin SMASH, you can do your part towards making a difference, all while having fun destroying your pumpkin/preparing it for decomposition. From slingshots to baseball bats, the possibilities for SMASHing those pumpkins are endless. All pumpkins SMASHed at the Idaho Springs Pumpkin SMASH will be used as organic waste in the soil reclamation project at the Walstrum Quarry.  Entrance and activities are free (excluding face painting and axe throwing, available for an additional fee). We can't wait to SMASH pumpkins with you.
