Start the Holiday Season off at this event in the Town of Georgetown. Bring the entire family for a fun-filled day in Georgetown – catch a ride on the Georgetown Loop Railroad, enjoy a warm meal, visit the boutiques, or simply warm your hands by the bonfire and stay for the Lighting of the Christmas Tree.

Join traditional Saint Nicholas for the Christmas Tree Lighting at 5pm in Strousse Park - enjoy hot chocolate, apple cider and live music.

Then stop in the John Tomay Memorial Library for cookie decorating from 6pm - 8pm. All welcome.

The movie “The Christmas Gift”, staring John Denver was filmed in Georgetown in 1986 and now the tradition of Letter Day continues to be celebrated.
Children of all ages are welcome to come deliver their written letters to Saint Nicholas.

As scheduled in the past, the County will close Guanella Pass Scenic and Historic Byway at the Naylor Lake intersection and approximately 0.8 mile north of the Park County/Clear Creek County line on or about December 2, 2024.

The pass will re-open the Friday before Memorial Day, weather permitting.

December 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th - 2024 Annual Georgetown Christmas Market

Each December the town of Georgetown transforms for two weekends into a bustling Christmas scene reminiscent of Christmas of long ago. Thousands come to this tiny mountain town to experience a traditional holiday where Christmas hasn’t changed in 100 years: roasted chestnuts, holiday shopping, horse-drawn wagon rides through historic Georgetown, and wonderful sights and smells. Visitors enjoy appearances by St. Nicholas in his traditional dress and the daily procession of the Santa Lucia. Carolers in Victorian costume, dancers, and other family entertainment provide hours of memorable performances. Adorned with lights and Christmas greenery and blanketed with snow, the quaint, historic town of Georgetown, Colorado has been a Christmas tradition for generations of Colorado families. This year we hope you will begin making it a tradition of your own!!

The Georgetown Christmas Market is held annually on the first and second full weekends of December. Admission is FREE. Christmas Market features an outdoor European marketplace with handcrafted gifts in addition to Georgetown’s charming year-round shopping experience. Beautiful and unique shops showcase Christmas ornaments and decorations, Victorian items for the home, art, Colorado wine, rare books, jewelry, exquisite clothing, antiques, and gifts. The Market will also feature food vendors in addition to our fabulous local restaurants.

Christmas Market Museum Tours offer a relaxed way to see the Hamill House, Hotel de Paris and Energy Museums and Georgetown Heritage Center. Docents are on hand to give information or answer questions, but guests may stroll through the properties at their leisure to enjoy the holiday decor. Prices vary.

A magical evening at the Hamill House Museum, built in 1867 and home of Silver Baron, William Arthur Hamill. The Hamill House will be decorated in Victorian splendor offering a holiday ceremony including; traditional lighting of the Christmas Tree, wassail bowl punch, bringing in of the Yule Log, libations, and a small plate buffet.
