Explore the historic beauty with a museum tour.
Start in Idaho Springs at the Heritage Center, where you’ll learn about the area’s mining history. Make your way to the Underhill Museum to glimpse early 1900’s life, the Central Hose House from circa 1912, and the Charlie Tayler Waterwheel before heading to Georgetown. There you can take a step back to the Victorian era with a visit to the Hotel de Paris. Most of the artifacts are original pieces!
Explore the architectural and historic beauty of Idaho Springs with a walking tour through the Miner Street Commercial District, designated a National Historic District. There are over forty historical buildings and sites to see.
The Georgetown-Silver Plume National Historic Landmark District boasts one of the largest concentrations of Victorian buildings in the country. Explore Victorian life in an early mining town as private home owners and numerous historic sites open the doors to the public and share their stories and homes with you.
Georgetown Loop Railroad®, Hotel de Paris & Luncheon Tour
Take a step back in time with a ride on the historic Georgetown Loop Railroad® where you will pass through dramatic rock formations along with groves of pine and aspen trees.
Afterwards, visit the Hotel de Paris museum, an 1875 hotel that retains much of its Victorian-era allure. Nearly all the furnishings, decorations, and artwork are original. Finally, explore the historic mining community of Georgetown its array of Victorian buildings, specialty shops, galleries and restaurants.
Guanella Pass Fall Spectacular
Explore the stunning beauty of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains fall foliage, rushing streams and panoramic views of mountain wilderness. Begin the tour in Grant, Colorado travelling along the spectacular Guanella Pass with its vast groves of shimmering aspens blanketing the hillsides. At 11,665 feet, you’ll find great photo opportunities as the panoramic views of Mt. Bierstadt, Grays and Torreys Peaks provide a spectacular backdrop.

Phoenix ‘Gold’ Mine Tour
Catch “Gold Fever” at the Phoenix Gold Mine located just west of Downtown Idaho Springs, Colorado. Experience mining history as a seasoned Hard Rock miner leads you on a personalized tour into a working underground gold mine where tons of gold and silver ore are pushed in small rail cars just as it was done 100 years ago!
Here you are welcome to dig or pan your own gold along a beautiful mountain stream and keep what you find. Afterwards, head into Downtown Idaho Springs to explore the Underhill Museum, historic Victorian era homes, or enjoy unique shopping with a variety of antique stores, specialty shops, and art galleries. Georgetown Christmas Market
Turn up the holiday spirit and explore the festivity of an old time Christmas market in historic Georgetown, Colorado. This year, the Georgetown Christmas Market takes place the first two full weekends in December. Steeped in the richest of traditions, you’ll be delighted to find booths with hand-crafted items, stands with hot roasted chestnuts, visits by St. Nick, and horse-drawn rides through town. Enjoy performances by singers, folk dancers, carolers in Victorian costume, Scandinavian dancers, and bagpipers who perform here and in the community center each day.
Adorned with lights and Christmas greenery, international and antique shops in town present an array of gifts you’re unlikely to find anywhere else in the state. Of course, the restaurants will feature holiday menus to tempt and delight the palate. This mining classic will take you back to another time.
